Bristol 2s V Swansea 1s

After rolling out the fake grass bridges across the track, the girls made it to their subs bench. And after a thorough warm-up, the match kicked off!

Swansea started by showing their strength in possession, bringing the ball into our half, but no worries, Millie was there to shut it down with a strong header! However, the subs bench, strategically placed on the other side of the track, made it hard for the subs to catch all the action. Unfortunately, Swansea netted an early goal (Maia channelling the teams frustration for them on the sidelines). Swansea attempted another break, but Phoebe intercepted right on time. Shots were fired, but Millie and Maia were on a blocking spree! Annie had some great long-range throws down the line, setting up Molly in midfield. At the other end of the pitch, GK Amy made some superb saves to keep Swansea out! Bill sent the subs jogging to try and prevent hypothermia from setting in... Meanwhile, Swansea put some good passes together for a second goal. Hannah bravely took over lino duty in the arctic temperatures and Amy's friend handed out some much-needed treats pitchside. Swansea then went on to net a lucky third goal. Amy continued to make more incredible saves; Annie was on fire at RB, sending balls down the line like a machine! A great play down the right led to a cross into the box, Chloe got a super shot off but the keeper got down in time to keep it out.

The first half ended with Swansea leading 3-0, but after a half-time pep talk from Bill, the 2s were hyped up and ready to go again. We started strong, with Maia sending a ball to Zoe that prompted a very (overly) dramatic save from the Swansea keeper. The subs, having briefly thawed out at half-time, started re-freezing. A Swansea free kick turned into an easy catch for GK Amy. Maya made a break down the wing, putting a ball into the box for Millie, but the goalie got their first. Swansea made their way down the line again to make it 4-0. Maya skillfully earned a free kick a little way outside their box. Molly's attempt soared just over the bar. Some substitutions were made, introducing Hannah and Keira, who made some great plays along the right wing. Phoebe and Anna, in the centre-back roles, kept Swansea out for the rest of the game and Phoebe was given player of the match for her stand-out performance in defence!

The 2s were satisfied after a well-fought second half and eagerly clambered back onto the coach for the warmth, all very grateful that it didn’t rain like last time!
