This Sunday was our first match with the new 4s squad and even though we had dozens of shots on goal we just couldn’t sink one in leading to a 1-0 loss.
Overall though, the team pulled through with some stellar performances all around the pitch.
Newcomer Lauren, who has absolutely mastered the art of the throw in, was unstoppable in right back and made many a run down the line. The rest of our back line were a wall; Saskia, Rosie, India, and Abby all pulled through to keep the Downend ladies in their own half.
In midfield, Capu, Jemima, Ruby, and Lizzy worked so well together that you would have no idea they’d only just met last week.
At the top of the pitch, Ishba, Zeinab, and Charlotte pulled through to take some very dedicated and mostly on target shots - several which arguably crossed the goal line
Our special guest from the devs this week, Nim, was a midfield powerhouse. They were falling over themselves for the chance to slide-tackle (legally of course), while continuously sending the ball across the pitch with some powerful corners, crosses, and shots.
Last, but certainly not least our fantastic keeper Esther brought both agility and wall-ness. She kept her cool even at the bottom of the slopey pitch, and made sure nothing got past her.
